Koscheck’s knockout of Yoshida was nasty

Wow I just watched the Koscheck vs. Yoshida fight and holy shit that knockout was nasty as fuck!  He was out on his feet and then put on queer street by that nice right hand.  Holy shit he was out!  He laid there like Nate Quarry when he got knocked out by Rich Franklin.  Yoshida was knocked out cold!  His eyes went cock-eyed when he landed flat on his back, his feet went straight out and up, his hands out to the side in an extremely stiff position.  That guy was goners.  I felt bad.  That was one of the most brutal knockouts I’ve seen in a long time.

BJ Penn/GSP Hawaii meet and greet

So I went to the BJ/GSP meet and greet tonight.  GSP was nothing but class man.  That guy is funny as heck but really respectful.  I never really liked him but he made me a fan tonight.  Can’t wait till they fight in January.

UFC 91: Couture vs. Lesnar

So Saturday is UFC 91 which is showcasing Randy “The Natural” Couture up against newcomer but awesome stud, Brock Lesnar from WWE fame.  Yes, Brock Lesnar is going to fight the UFC’s heavyweight champ, for the heavyweight belt.  I think Brock has a very good chance of winning.  His performance against Heath Herring was very impressive.  The first punch that landed pretty much cemented the tempo for the fight and he almost killed Heath.  I can see Randy using his wrestling and going for the take down and trying to keep Lesnar on his back where Randy would look for submissions or the ground and pound.  The thing is, I think Lesnar can easily get off his back and up to his feet where he will be a real threat standing.  On the other hand, his weakness is still, submissions and Randy has been at this for a while now.  He knows where and when to sneak in a submission.  This is definitely Lesnar’s weak spot, and he knows it.  I’m pretty sure he’s been training adamantly on the ground to avoid submissions.  He avoided them against Herring but ultimately succumbed to a submission from Frank Mir.  In the end, my prediction for this fight is Lesnar by some type of TKO or KO.  I have been proven wrong many times before but I seen that happening.

WEC 36

Jens Pulver got wrecked by Leonard Garcia.  First round tko.  Felt bad for watching that.  As long as Jens isn’t fighting BJ, I’m usually rooting for him.  He got demolished though.  He said he was going to fight smarter but it looked like he reverted back to his brawling type of style and just got caught and overwhelmed.

Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock tonight, 10/4/08

I think Kimbo will win by first round knockout.  Ken hasn’t won in quite some time.  He is known to throw fights.  He [Shamrock] should just retire.  I can’t stand him anymore.  They’re still feeding Kimbo cans and that is what pisses me off.  Yes, I know, they have to build him up but I could care less about him being built up.  I want to see him get owned.

Gina Carano fights tonight too.

Cyborg’s wife, who will destroy Gina in a few months, is also fighting tonight.

Edwin Dewees and Antonio Big Foot Silva test positive for steroids

Looks like Edwin Dewees of The Ultimate Fighter fame tested positive for steroids along with Antonio Silva.

Edwin fought and lost against Antonio Rogerio Noguiera at the EliteXC in Stockton, CA.  I guess the ‘roids didn’t do no good.

Big Foot, on the other hand, punished his opponent Justin Eilers to go on and win the EliteXC heavyweight belt.  I feel bad for Eilers.  He said after that fight he’s dropping down to 205lbs.  Maybe they should anoint him with the heavyweight title and keep him there.  He’s an exciting fighter.

I honestly thought that Chris “Cyborg” Santos was going to test positive for steroids.  She looks like she is on something.  She has a lot of manly features that Chyna from WWE fame used to have.  If you compare Chyna from then and now she looks completely different.  She no longer looks like a manly man.  She looks decent, like an actual woman.

Steroids is so rampant through MMA and it’s sad to see it like this.

One thing I do not understand is that the steroids that these fighters are using are common and easily detectable through urinalysis.  I’m not sure why they’re even doing it.  They have to know in the back of their minds that they are going to get caught.
