I opened up an Ally.com interest checking account.  It was free to open, no minimum balance, they give you a debit card and free checks.

The only thing that I found out about these guys is that they are one and the same with GMAC.  They’re essentially GMAC rebranded.  They are federally insured by the FDIC though so no worries there.
