I went to the San Jose State game thinking we could do this. Sure enough, we did… up to a point. We soon succumbed to numerous errors. Funaki looked phenomenal at first. Completing passes and even throwing a TD. However, he threw three interceptions and fumbled the ball once. Also, the offense could not stop themselves from numerous penalties. This kept the defense working extra hard.
I have to say that I give Hawaii’s defense all the props in the world. They were able to stop San Jose almost each and every time they had the ball. The only thing that allowed San Jose State to come back from their deficit was Hawaii’s mistakes.
If only Hawaii was more disciplined. I’m talking about the way they were under coach June Jones.
Well, here’s hoping we win the rest of the conference games although I think that’s a far fetch due to Fresno State being undefeated.
